my joys...

Three Joys
1. My Family
2. Good Music
3. The few minutes I get to myself after the kids are asleep and before I go to bed. I look forward to it every night!

Three Fears
1. Losing a member of my family.
2. Inadequacy.
3. Getting pregnant any time in the next year or two.

Three Current Goals
1. Get out of debt.
2. Learn how to take better pictures.
3. Learn more about graphic design.

Three Current Obsessions
1. Sugar Free Italian Sodas (thanks Kenny & Bobbie)
2. Disneyland - I can't believe it's been 2 months and I haven't been back!
3. Dieting. I can't say I'm enjoying it but I am obsessed with it by default.

Three Random Fact About Myself
1. I win almost every single game I play. I rarely lose at a board game or a card game, though I stink at dice so I rarely play those.
2. I love magazines. I'm a sucker for magazine subscriptions. I currently only have 2 (Better Homes & Gardens and Home) but I'd sure like a few more.
3. In case you haven't noticed, I have a LOVE/hate relationship with politics and follow closely what is going on in the world. I feel like one of the only things that can turn this country back around is an informed voter. I don't care how you vote (theoretically) just know WHY you're voting!

thanks for the tag Ashby!

oh barf...literally...

Whenever Halle is crying and I can't get her to stop I usually do "Super Baby" where I lift her high above my head for a few seconds and that seems to work every time! So today she was crying and wouldn't stop. I'm sitting on the couch and she's in front of me. I reach over and grab her and lift her high above my head and say "Suuuuuuuuperrrrrrrrrrrrr....". Wouldn't you know it, right in the middle of that word when my mouth is as open as it can get, she barfs RIGHT into my mouth!!! We're not talking just a little bit here folks, a whole steady stream right into the pie hole. My clothes came out unscathed as did my face, because it all landed right in my mouth!!!

halle update...

It looks as though Annie has been monopolizing most, if not all of the "blog space" lately because lets face it - babies are boring. Poor Halle is already suffering from the second child syndrome, so I figured I'd dedicate one post entirely to Halle.

She is such a good baby. Sometimes I get frustrated because she LOVES to be held. If I (or anyone else) am holding her she's happy!

She will smile and laugh at anything. I'm talking constantly. All it takes is to look at her and you'll get a smile. I remember Annie smiling here and there but Halle is one constant smile - and you can't help but be happy.

She is the BEST sleeper! At night, I don't even have to try, I just change her diaper and pajamas and toss her in her crib and she falls asleep and sleeps through the whole night! I know, I'm lucky.

I just love her so much. I am so happy and at the same time sad to watch her grow up...it seems like it is going way too fast and much faster than it did with Annie.

Man do I miss all of her thick dark hair!

See, she'll fall asleep anywhere...even on top of the kitchen table. Thanks grandma!

hair today, gone tomorrow...

Ok, so I FINALLY have an appointment to get my hair cut and colored on Monday (yipee)! Between post pregnancy and lack of style, it looks SO NASTY right now. Currently my hair is as long as it's ever been (it's down to my boobs, sorry but that's just how long it is). The thing is, I never do anything with it. There are no layers, no style, nothing. So my question is, how long/short should I cut my hair? I am not afraid of chopping it, but I'm wondering if I should leave it a little bit long-ish since it's so long anyway? What do you think?

I'm also thinking of putting a lot more blonde in it. Not going platinum or anything, just more blonde - does that sound good?

Thanks for your help in advance...I'm such a dunce-o when it comes to this stuff!

south beach update...

Well, I've finished my first week and lost 10 pounds! I guess if you can only eat lettuce, chicken and water, you might as well have something to show for it.

One week left to go and hopefully another 10 pounds too!

princess panties...

Well, this certainly is a new take on princess panties! When I asked Annie what in the world she was doing she matter-of-factly said (as if I had just asked the stupidest question ever) "well mom, the princesses needed a ride and I couldn't carry all of them them". I like ingenuity but I never would have come up with this. You know those moments when your kids absolutely crack you up....this was one of those!

i don't even know where to start...

I don't even know where to start to vent my frustrations with the totally left winged media and biases against anything conservative or Republican, but particularly against Sarah Palin.

I heard about Sarah Palin about 5 or 6 months ago on Glenn Beck. He did several interviews with her then and has done many more up until the time she was nominated for Vice President. She is FABULOUS. I said 6 months ago that the only way John McCain could possibly get my vote was to nominate Mitt Romney or Sarah Palin - needless to say McCain will be getting my vote. Actually, Sarah Palin is getting my vote!

With much pain and suffering I watched the Democratic National Convention - ALL the coverage. I had to leave the room twice because I was so angry with the coverage the convention was getting. I watched as the "journalists" practically wet themselves with excitement whenever Obama was mentioned. David Gregory, Chris Matthews and Andrea Mitchell were giddy during the entire thing. When did "journalism" become so one-sided? I thought true journalists were supposed to cover the facts, not just what they like and don't like about a news story or a person.

After the DNC I got to watch as all the major news stations SMEAR the new VP choice, Sarah Palin. I saw stories like "What does Obama wear to the gym" while other stories were out there about Sarah Palin like "did you hear she fired the trooper ex-husband of her sister". Failing to mention that the trooper tazered his 10 year old step son, among many other things!

US Weekly has also had many baised, left wing "headlines" about Sarah Palin. Nevermind that US Weekly is the #1 contributor to the Obama campaign. They have maxed out their contributions to his campaign.

She was BRILLIANT last night at the RNC! I liked her more than I did before. Something you WON'T hear about her in the media since they all have a crush on Obama is that her teleprompter broke 1/2 way through her speech so she winged most of it. Accident that it "broke"...kind of makes you wonder?

I hope that she wins! I hope she wins in spite of the fact that every mainstream media oulet is out to cut her down. You go Sarah!!!

south beach - and I wish I meant miami...

Yes, I'm on the stupid South Beach diet AGAIN! I've done it successfully before so I figured why not give it a go again. For those of you who know nothing about the HELL (yes, sorry, I said hell but that is the only adequate way of explaining how awful this really is) that is South Beach, let me tell you.

For the first 2 weeks I can eat no sugar, salt, carbs, fat, starch or fruit - so basically anything good. I can have water (my weight in ounces to be exact), chicken and lettuce basically.

So...if you see me and I'm extra ornery, you'll know why.

On the up side, I've been doing it for 1 1/2 days and I've already lost 5 pounds!

Here's to a skinny, yet food deprived and ornery me! GO FIGHT WIN...

first day of school...

Other than the battle I had with Annie this morning over her choice of clothing (she wanted to wear her Tinkerbell costume and blew a gasket when I told her no), today was a GREAT first day of school! She's going back to the preschool that she attended last year and loved!

Maybe some people are sad when they drop their kids off for school, and truthfully I'll probably feel differently when it is kindergarten or first grade, but at this point I'm every bit as excited to drop her off for a few hours as she is to go.

Annie asked if she could take a funny picture first...I guess this is her idea of a funny picture...

I've finally gotten her to take a picture without putting her hand in her mouth every time I hold up the camera. Now I just have to figure out how to get her to uncross her arms and legs...

I just can't believe how big she is getting. She even looks big too. Where did my baby go?

This class seems to be every girls dream. I think there are twice as many boys as girls. PLEASE BLESS she doesn't care about that yet. I still remember my preschool boyfriend, Phillip...

conversation...

This past weekend we were up in Midway for Swiss Days - along with my parents and my grandparents. It was fun as always, but here is a conversation I overheard while we were there.

Annie: Mom, I want to go on a walk.
My Grandpa: I'll go on a walk with you Annie.

Annie:
No, that's OK, you're too slow.
My Grandpa: Well, I could try to go faster.
Annie: Well, okay then.

So they go out for a walk...

Annie: Just a minute Grandpa, I have to stop and itch.
My Grandpa: Why do you have an itch?
Annie: I think I just sweat too much.

oh no she didn't...

I realize I'm not a petite person, I never have been. I would definitely not say that I'm skinny. I know I'm not a size 2 or even a size 10 - but I did just have a baby cut out of my stomach 3 months ago, after which my Dr. told me absolutely no exercise for 3 months. So I just barely got the go-ahead to start exercising again (not that I EVER did it before but you get my drift).

So a couple weeks ago I went to a friends house to one of those home parties. At this particular home party there was a girl there selling hair accessories for little girls, mostly flowers. The bows were cute, the girl selling them was not. She was EASILY twice my size and had absolutely NO social filter...she did NOT know when to stop talking!

Remember, this girl wants me to actually buy her stuff...so there I am perusing the merchandise when she comes up to me and starts going on and on about her latest vacation:

Twice my size Girl: So I totally just got back from a cruise to the Dominican Republic, it was so awesome.

Me: oh, that's neat.

Twice my size Girl: Yeah, we stopped at this place and this place and every time we got off the boat all I could think was "I am WAY bigger than all the Dominican people, they are all so little".

Me: oh, are they really? (but thinking to myself "you're bigger than most American people too, what makes you feel any different around the Dominicans?").

Twice my size Girl: I totally wanted to go shopping while I was there but then I thought to myself, duh, you totally won't fit in any of their clothes. *Then she looks at me and says* "Well, you know how it is, you're a bigger girl".
